The United States is headed in the direction of other countries that have allowed their appetites to exceed their funds. What is the purpose of government? Is it to give us all we want? Is it to take care of us from cradle to grave? Well, unfortunately and sadly many Americans have come to believe and expect that government is there to give them whatever they need or want.
This thinking is not good for the country, for those who think this way, or for those left footing the bill. It is time to educate our people in economics and the Constitution. It is time to inspire our people to pursue their own happiness and not to expect the government to provide it. It is time to bring our countryman together to appreciate one another and the abundant prosperity we can create if we seek to be the best we can be and to bring out the best in each other.
We have got to bring our expenses as a nation under control in the same way we must control our personal finances. Let’s get together and support a balanced budget. If you would like to find out more or are willing to get involved, then check out these websites:

An important subject, hard to do these days.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the read.
Yvonne.
Hi Yvonne, This is an important subject and yes it is hard to do, hard in our personal life and in the halls of government especially when so much stubbornness, power, and personal demands are involved. We have got to be willing to talk about it and come to solutions that will employ discipline, the proper role of government, and an approach that doesn't ignore problems but addresses them. Easier said than done, as you say. Thanks for stopping by. God bless, Maria
DeleteI'm not from the U.S., so I'll try not to say too much about this.
ReplyDeleteBut where I'm from, a budget deficit isn't that bad. (Depending on size, of course.) Budget surpluses are bad, because it means that the money received from taxes wasn't allocated efficiently.
But then, the economy is so much more complicated than just deficits and surpluses.
Hi Misha, It is good to consider the place that other countries find themselves. You are right, though, a surplus can also be bad because the funds either are not being allocated efficiently as you say or because people are overtaxed and should be allowed to decide how their own money should be used. The economy is more complicated than deficits and surpluses but these deficits and surpluses, these debts our government takes on, are often indicative of problems that run deep. Thanks for stopping by. God bless, Maria
DeleteInteresting and thoughtful post. Agreed, out of control spending must be stopped.
ReplyDeleteHi M.J., Thanks for stopping by. God bless, Maria
DeleteI'm so glad to see you tackle this subject. It's such a shame that our representatives don't take their responsibilities to us- the people and our childrens futures more seriously. It seems to me that no matter who we elect they never seem to be willing to do the right thing. Our state (Virginia) seems to be doing a good job in tackling budget issues, sad but our Governor only gets one term and he's out. Hopefully he'll be replaced by someone with the same vision. Now all we need is someone with a responsible heart in the White House.
ReplyDeleteVery good post. Wish those in DC were reading. You are only too right.
ReplyDeleteYou're right that's what so many now expect.
ReplyDeleteYes Gregg and Alex. I am glad you agree. Shows there are sane minds among us. God bless, Maria
DeleteAmen! That's all.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy. Appreciate ya. God bless, Maria
