Life-Scape in the Wide Angle Lens

“I love you this much,”  she says as she spreads her arms as wide as she can and her smile just as big.

“Well, I love you all the way around the world and to the moon and around the sun and back again!”  I respond, and we both laugh and hug.

Ah those memories of my little ones.  Those times we would snuggle together, tell stories, laugh, and tickle each other’s funny bones.  What beautiful times that always make me smile.  Now my little girls aren’t so little any more, and my boys are all grown up too.  Now I am crying to think those tender moments of their babyhood are behind us and will only survive in photos and memories and memoirs.

Yet there are other beautiful times to enjoy with these most special people in my life.  Larger questions of life to explore, stories to tell, and laughter to tickle our funny bones may be different but it isn’t gone.  There are new seasons to enjoy and new adventures to experience.  The colors and textures of our moments may be different but the fabric is still a mosaic of joy.

A life-scape, when viewed through the wide angle lens of perspective, is a treasure more valuable than the sum of its parts.

  1. Fleeting moments of joy. Love it. Love the reminder. My kids are little and there are days when I can't help but wish that they were older so that I can...fill in the blank. But cherishing the moments, and looking at them with a wide angled lens. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. I love the pictures! It's really neat to watch them all grow up. I'm thankful I get to go through this process with you.
