Focus - A Personal Pep-Talk

Five Minute Friday prompt:  Focus.

Philippians 4:8
Focus.  I know your feelings are hurt, but focus on what’s important.  Get out of your own way, and focus on what’s important.

Will it help to fret and dwell on your hurt feelings?  Will it help to continue to go over and over in your mind what you would rather have happen when you can’t change it?  Will it help to wallow in self pity and pain?  Why do you continue to do it if you know it won’t help?
Focus on what’s important.  Focus and dwell on the things that God tells you to dwell on.  Whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is good, whatever is kind, whatever is excellent, whatever is admirable -- think upon these things.  You have the power in Christ to overcome yourself and dwell in the joy that is His.
It won’t help to convey your woes at this point.  What will help is focusing on the One Who is beautiful, powerful, excellent and has everything in control even if you don’t.  And Praise God you don’t!  Focus on Him and His goodness.  Focus on what’s important and let go of the rest.
