About Me

My photo

Delighting in my God, I desire to dwell in His pleasure and to help others experience true delight.

"Delight Yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;..." Ps 37:4-7a

Confessions of an Insecure Writer/Blogger

Insecure Writer's Support Group

Thanks to Alex Cavanaugh, there is a place to go for insecure writer's like me.  Visiting those who link up there though, I find that even among the insecure I am out of my league.  However, the great thing about the blogging community is that there is no shortage of encouragers.  So I am grateful for the opportunity to expose my vulnerabilities to those who will only help me through them.  Thanks in advance.  Can you pick up on my insecurity already?

You see, I am always two steps behind the technological revolution of the day.  I don’t mind that and in fact I rather like it.  However, I am afraid I am two steps behind in other things as well.  I feel rather behind the power curve in blogging, two steps behind in my writing aptitude, two steps behind in keeping up with what I should know in both of these skills.  So sometimes, actually, I usually feel quite out of my league.  Confessions of an insecure writer/ blogger.  There it is.

  1. You and me both. I feel like I've focused on my technical deficiencies for several weeks now. Love/hate relationship.

  2. I bet you aren't nearly as behind on any of it as you think you are. Just by having a blog and successfully posting on it you are ahead of the curve.

  4. Hi! Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. Don't worry - I'm sure we all feel like that sometimes! I have never got my teeth into the whole blogging thing and as for the rest, I'm still learning as I go along. Writing really is a journey - enjoy it! One thing I've learned is that you can't rush it :-) Nice to 'meet' you.

  6. Hi, welcome to the insecurity club. You might be behind the curve on the technological side, but I suspect that you don't have as much to be insecure about your writing as you feel! Thanks for sharing and all the best to you in your writing.

  8. I think every writer can confess to feeling this way. There are some amazing bloggers out there, full of enthusiasm, advice and support for their fellow writers, so there are many places you can learn new tricks and gain some confidence. Good luck!

  10. I haven't read many of your posts, but you seem to have a good handle on things. Experience seems to be the best cure for insecurity, and I imagine if you tried to teach a brand new blogger how to do something you would discover that you are not as many steps "behind" as you think you are. When I first started blogging about five years ago, I knew absolutely nothing, not even how to start a blog. I don't think I am much further up the knowledge ladder until someone asks me how to do something, and I am surprised to actually know the answer! The great thing is that Google knows just about everything and is willing to share. :) Happy blogging, and I am looking forward to reading more from you on the AtoZ challenge!

  11. I've only just joined ISWG and yours is the second blog I've read but I so identify. I've learned so much since starting along the writing path that sometimes I wonder whether I will ever remember it all! One thing I have learned - there's so much to learn, no-one will ever, ever be fully up to date :)

  12. I absolutely agree. So very much to learn that we will never stop learning. That's kind of exciting really, I think. Thanks for stopping by. God bless, Maria

  14. No matter how far you go, you'll always feel like you're a few steps behind. Just the fact that you made it this far means you're still ahead of a lot of others.

    Welcome to the IWSG!

    1. So true Ken. I never quite feel like I am ahead of the game. There are always steps to take ahead. I guess that isn't a bad thing as long as you don't let it be and continue to get excited about what you are learning along the way. Thanks for stopping by. God bless, Maria

  15. I've been doing this a long time and I still feel 2 steps behind. Some days I'm 4 steps behind. But lately I'm noticing no matter how bad or insecure I feel, I'm not so far behind that I'm out of sight.

    Happy IWSG, Maria!
